Health Risk Assessments
A Health Risk Assessment (HRA) is an affordable, comprehensive measurement
tool used to evaluate current health status and educate participants on how
to improve their overall well being. The HRA also provides your company with
an overall snapshot of employees' health and education needs.
HRA's empower your employees to take control of their health, and a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. These assessments also serve as an effective foundation for corporate wellness programs, which have been shown to:
- Increase productivity and profitability
- Reduce healthcare costs
- Improve employee morale
- Increase employee retention
A typical HRA program consists of:
- A participant questionnaire
- Biometric measurements
- Blood pressure screening
- A basic blood profile test and/or cholesterol test
The questionnaire asks participants questions regarding family health history,
daily activity, nutritional habits and exercise regime.
A laboratory blood chemistry screening helps identify a multitude of conditions
including diabetes, hepatitis, kidney disease, stroke and an increased risk
of heart attack.
Based upon the information gathered through the questionnaires and the selected screenings, a Personal Wellness Profile Report for each participant is generated. This report identifies the health risks and lifestyle practices that determine overall personal well being. Reinforcing good health practices and recommending changes when necessary, the report reveals general health and wellness issues for each individual and describes specific test results to provide a more complete health assessment. In cases where there may be critical health concerns, a doctor will call individuals personally to discuss the issues, encouraging them to see their regular physicians.
How do HRA's support overall corporate wellness?
Based on collective data from all employee HRA's, Laredo Examiners can provide reports which reveal health risks your staff as a whole may be facing. These reports enable administrators to:
- Plan education programs targeting specific conditions such as heart disease or asthma
- Monitor utilization of wellness services you may already provide
- Determine cost justification or the need to modify your approach
